A new place to pamper yourself recently opened in Shelmore Village in Mount Pleasant.
Toska European Spa Boutique, at 716 S. Shelmore Blvd. and owned by skin-care specialist Toska Husted, offers skin analysis, lifestyle consultation and advice on home-care beauty routines to maximize effectiveness of the special treatment Husted administers.
Born and raised in Kosovo, Husted graduated in 1996 from the Steiner School of Beauty Therapy in London, whose founder, Herman Steiner, was a hairdresser and cosmetician to English royalty.
Following her graduation, Husted spent the next 10 years living and working in London, as well as two years in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, before coming to the United States in 2008.

–Restaurant partners Brett McKee of Oak Steakhouse and Steve Palmer of The Indigo Road will open a new restaurant, 15 North, in Charlotte today. The roadside kitchen concept is at 1513 Montford Drive in the Queen City’s historic Myers Park neighborhood in a former smokehouse.
–Scottish Food Systems Inc. , a North Carolina company, recently leased the 4,400-square-foot former Pizza Inn restaurant at 6216 Rivers Ave., according to Joe Keenan of Palmetto Commercial Properties. Keenan said plans call for an authentic Indian cuisine restaurant and food store. The company owns several KFC and Pizza Inn restaurants in the Carolinas, including a Pizza Inn in Summerville.
Building blocks
Wonder Works toy store celebrates its 20-year anniversary Saturday with the expansion of its West Ashley shop in St. Andrews Shopping Center and events throughout the day.
At 11 a.m., customers can meet local artists, authors and craftsmen such as Tate Nation, Clay Rice, Jonathan Miller, Julie Kube and Christian Royal. There will be sing-alongs with Jonathan Robinson, Little Picasso art activities, storytelling with Helen Dah Royal, free birthday gifts and many other surprises throughout the day.
At 1:30 p.m. a “Ribbon Rush” will officially mark the grand reopening and expansion as children rush to break the ribbon.
Clothes line
Abercrombie & Fitch will close 110 stores in the United States over the next 18 months through expiring leases or buyouts, the company announced during its recent quarterly earnings report. A company spokesman did not return calls about the fate of the store at 260 King St. in downtown Charleston, but a store employee said the shop is not among those on the list.
Giving back
Whole Foods Market in Mount Pleasant recently presented Adaptive Gardens of the Lowcountry a check for just over $4,000 as the proceeds from its “5 Percent Day.” Each quarter, the supermarket selects a local nonprofit organization to receive 5 percent of the store’s total pretax sales for one day. Whole Foods marketing director Pam Fischette made the donation to Adaptive Gardens representatives Jodie Thomas and Leslie Wade.
