As the police hunt teenage robbers who opened fire on the Brooklyn beauty salon, hairdresser 's owner said he owed his life a brave police officer, who happened to be getting your hair done at the time.
"I was in the middle of all the scenes. I've never been scared," said Sabine Bellevue, owner of Sabine 's corridor Franklin Ave. Bedford-Stuyvesant.
"Thank God for an officer was there. I 'm just grateful to survive," he told the Daily News on Sunday.
"If he did not 't have, things would have gone very differently," Bellevue added. "He was fully loaded."
Police on duty Feris Jones, 20 years NYPD veteran was unfazed when the baby-faced suspect Winston Cox, 19, burst into the salon waving a gun at about 18:30 on Saturday.
Witnesses said Cox called out of four women saloon fork over their cash and valuables.Jones, 50, who works in NYPD crime lab and Queens of the hair salon about once a month, rose from the chair, to identify themselves as police and told Cox to drop his weapon.
That 's when he opened fire, witnesses said.
Terrified, two customers and Bellevue fell to the floor, but Jones stood in the cold country of the gun in his waistband and shot Cox twice.
He punched him at least once in either right hand or thigh, police said.
"There was blood everywhere and he began to curse and scream," said Bellevue. "I still have a pounding (headache) pain of all the shots."
Cox ran away, leaving a trail of blood nearby Lafayette Gardens housing project.
Use the complex was empty, but the detectives interviewing the residents managed to get a name to go to a detailed description of Jones provided.
Jones took Cox 's picture out of the picture string, the sources said. He hunted on Sunday.
Police said the suspect, who is about 5-feet-7 and 140 pounds, may have ties to his hands. The police have combed the city hospitals, whether he sought medical treatment for his gunshot wound.
Jones had been treated with the Kings County Hospital on Saturday evening and released.
Her tresses were apparently as impregnable as their owner. "Her hair looked fine to me," the police source said.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly praised Jones' grace under pressure.
"Officer Jones showed a significant degree of professionalism and calm, taking police action while on leave yesterday and foiling an armed robbery – and maybe worse," he said.
Investigators were trying to find out Cox had an accomplice.
Salon door is normally locked and the customers are let in. Moments before the robbery, the woman came to ask for prices and held the door open for Cox, police said.
Bellevue said she did not 't believe the woman was a deliberate role in the robbery.
Neighbors Jones, "said an apartment building in Brooklyn is known for her fearlessness.
Years ago, he looked down and imprisoned in a mad man who tried to set fire to the building.
"He 's always been brave," said one neighbor who declined to give his name. "I feel good to live across from him."
Neighbors said the salon has been rising crime area.
"I asked the police officers would have more presence here," said Joseph Adewumi, 36, who owns a lounge across the street. "Too many businesses have been looted and people are tired."
